Ashfield Heritage
Ashfield Municipal Council was proclaimed in 1872 covering Ashfield, Summer Hill, Croydon, Haberfield and Hurlstone Park. The Sydney to Parramatta Railway was opened in 1855 which developed the area for residential housing and commerce.
Sir Henry Parkes built Milton House in the 1880's. Quong Tart built Gallop House in Arthur St in the 1900's. Later in 1910 Richard Stanton subdivided Haberfield as a garden suburb.
